Prompt Relief When You Need It Most

Dental emergencies don’t wait for convenient times. Whether you’ve cracked a tooth, lost a filling, knocked out a tooth, or are experiencing severe dental pain, prompt care matters. A knocked-out tooth has the best chance of reimplantation within an hour, and if it can’t be saved, we can discuss tooth replacement options. Waiting too long can turn a manageable problem into one that requires significantly more time, cost, and discomfort to resolve.

At Marina Pointe Dental, we prioritize emergency cases and work to see urgent patients as quickly as possible, often the same day you call. According to the American Dental Association, an estimated 2 million Americans visit hospital emergency rooms for dental pain each year — yet a visit to the dentist provides the actual dental treatment needed at a fraction of the cost. When you call our office with a dental emergency, we assess your situation over the phone, provide immediate guidance, and get you in as quickly as possible.

How We Help in a Dental Emergency

Same-Day Relief

We prioritize emergency cases and work to see urgent patients the same day, providing fast relief from dental pain and preventing further damage to your teeth.

Prevent Further Complications

Prompt emergency treatment stops minor problems from becoming major issues, saves damaged teeth that might otherwise be lost, and reduces the risk of infection.

Expert Care When It Matters

Our experienced dentists have the skills and equipment to handle various dental emergencies effectively, from temporary pain relief to permanent solutions.

What to Do in a Dental Emergency

The steps you take in the first few minutes of a dental emergency can make a real difference. Here is what to do for the most common situations while you wait to be seen.

Toothache or Jaw Pain

1

Rinse your mouth with warm salt water to clear out debris. Take an over-the-counter pain reliever as directed and apply a cold compress to the outside of your cheek to manage swelling. Avoid placing aspirin directly against the gum. If the pain is severe, spreading, or comes with fever or facial swelling, call us immediately.

Broken, Chipped, or Cracked Tooth

Rinse gently with warm water and save any broken pieces in a clean bag. Apply a cold compress to reduce swelling. Call our office as soon as possible. Even a crack that doesn’t hurt can worsen quickly if left untreated.

2

Knocked-Out Tooth

Hold the tooth by the crown, not the root. Rinse it gently without scrubbing or removing any attached tissue. Try to reinsert it in the socket. If that isn’t possible, keep it moist in milk or between your cheek and gum. According to the American Dental Association, time is critical: the sooner a knocked-out tooth is treated, the better the chance of saving it. Call us immediately.

3

Lost Filling, Crown, or Restoration

Avoid chewing on that side of your mouth. If a sharp edge is exposed, dental wax or sugar-free gum can temporarily cover it. Call our office as soon as possible. We offer same-day appointments to repair or replace lost restorations before the tooth sustains further damage.

Common Dental Emergencies We Treat in Panama City, FL

Marina Pointe Dental is equipped to handle various dental emergencies affecting Panama City residents. We provide comprehensive emergency care to relieve pain and restore your oral health. Whether you’re experiencing sudden pain, have suffered a dental injury, or are dealing with a failed restoration, our team is prepared to address your urgent needs quickly and effectively.

Severe Toothache or Jaw Pain
Persistent or worsening pain that doesn’t subside may signal an infection or structural damage that needs same-day evaluation.
Cracked, Chipped, or Broken Tooth
Save any broken pieces and call us right away. Sharp edges or exposed pulp need prompt attention to relieve pain and prevent infection.
Knocked-Out Tooth
Hold by the crown, rinse gently, and try to reinsert or store in milk. Time is critical. If reimplantation isn’t possible, we discuss tooth replacement options.
Lost Filling, Crown, or Restoration
Exposed tooth structure is sensitive and vulnerable. Avoid chewing on that side and contact us promptly. We repair or replace dental restorations same-day when possible.

Some emergencies require same-day treatment — root canal therapy for an infection that has reached the inner pulp, or an emergency extraction when a tooth cannot be saved. Our team evaluates each case and recommends the most appropriate care, whether that’s immediate treatment or a temporary fix while a permanent solution is arranged.

When you arrive, we use digital X-rays and a thorough exam to get a clear picture of what’s happening. Our goal is to get you out of pain and protect your long-term oral health in the same visit.
